Q: What is FPM? |

A: The Fellow Program in Hospital and Health Management (FPM) is a unique doctoral
level programme in India and South East Asia Region. The program broadly aims at building and strengthening research capacity in management of health care in order
to improve the standards of health of people through accessible, affordable and
equitable health services. |

Q: What is the average completion time for FPM? |
|
|
|
A: The FPM is a full-time programme and would take three years to complete with
a provision of one-year extension, if necessary.
|

Q: Who can apply?
|
|
|
|
A: Masters’ Degree or Postgraduate Diploma with at least 55% marks (or equivalent
grade) in Hospital and Health Management, Postgraduate degree in Medicine, Health
Informatics, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Economics, Commerce, Demography and
Statistics. Faculty in management institutions and working professionals with relevant
qualifications and experience are encouraged to join FPM and will be given preference
in selection. |

Q: What are the qualities which IIHMR is looking for in applicants to the programme? |
|
|
|
A: We are looking for highly motivated and disciplined candidates with strong academic
preparation who exhibit curiosity, desire to learn, and have an inclination towards
research. |

Q: How do I apply? What is the process of admission to the program? Where can I
get the forms? Can I apply online? |

A: Candidates are required to fill in an application form, which can be obtained
from the Institute by paying in cash or by sending a demand draft for Rs. 1000/-
drawn in favour of “Institute of Health Management Research", payable at Jaipur.
Application forms can also be downloaded from our website: www.iihmr.org. In the latter case, applications must be sent along with a DD for Rs. 1000/-

Q: Is FPM from IIHMR recognized as equivalent to a Ph.D.?
|
|
|
|
A: The program is approved by AICTE as a doctoral level program and is similar to
the Fellowship programs of other autonomous management institutes. The student will
be awarded a “Fellow” title. Application is being sent to AIU to seek its official
equivalence to Ph.D.
|

|
|
Q: Is it possible to complete the FPM programme on a part-time basis?
|
|
|
|
A: Full time commitment is necessary for all students during coursework. However,
a student may be allowed to go back to his / her parent organization to do the thesis
work once he / she successfully completes the coursework. |

Q: Do you have an option of doing inter-disciplinary research?
|
|
|
|
A: Yes. |

Q: What are the important stages in the FPM program?

Q: How will I sustain myself for 3 years, if I have a family?
|
|
|
|
A: IIHMR will provide scholarship of Rs.15,000 per month during 1st 18 months and
upon clearing the qualifying exam Rs.18,000 for a maximum period of 18 months to
all full time students.
|
|
|
|
Q: What is the purpose of the interview? What is expected at the interview? Does it help if I come prepared with a research proposal?
|
|
|
|
A: The purpose of the interview is to gauge the academic preparation of the candidate
for the programme. It also gives the candidate an opportunity to find out if the
programme meets the requirements of the student during interview. |
|
|
|
Q: Is the course-work at IIHMR very difficult?
|
|
|
|
A: The Institute expects high academic rigor and integrity. It has stringent requirements
at every stage of the programme. The course work at IIHMR Jaipur under the guidance
of expert guides will be easy and full of vast research based learning. |

Q: How do I choose my research topic? |
|
|
|
A: A research topic requires interest and motivation of student and availability
of a suitable guide interested in the area. FPM students work under the guidance
of the mentor/guide & IIHMR research community who help the student to finalize
the topics. |
|
|
|
Q: What support is available for presenting research papers in Indian and
international conferences?
|
|
|
|
A: The students will be assisted & encouraged to attend conferences in India
and abroad during the course. Financial support to cover travel expenses will be
provided to selected students as per the Institute’s policy.
|
|
|
|
Q: How do I find a job after completing my doctoral level studies?
|
|
|
|
A: A Fellow Programme student is not entitled to the same services of the Students'
Placement Cell as are provided to the postgraduate students. However, wherever possible
and appropriate, the Institute will provide guidance and help to the students in
securing jobs in academic organizations.

|
|
Q: How does the programme prepare me for an academic career?
|
|
|
|
A: This will be achieved through a structure that will prove to be very effective
for starting and developing a research and teaching career in management--a structure
that comprises IIHMR details folllowed by two years of supervised thesis work. It
forms the minimum requirement for seeking a position in academia.
